Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with the Castle Country Acting Company to discuss their upcoming summer productions. They are so excited to offer two plays this year, Treasure Island and Robin Hood. Producer, Emily Sanders was able to take time to stop by the station to share all the details with listeners.
The acting company has been around since 2009 and this will be their 11th show. “We’ve been around since 2009, Kaitlyn Iverson is the founder of the Castle Country Acting Company. She did her first show in 2009 and we’ve just continued on with that for about 13 years now,” said Sanders. The acting company caters to young actors in the Castle Country area who are ages 6 to 18 years old.
These amazing actors in the production maybe young but they are also very talented too. “It is a kid’s production, and I can’t emphasize that enough. I don’t think people realize what the kids really do. The kids, 6-year-olds in charge of their costumes, changing sets, knowing when they supposed to come on stage. I do the music and my friend Katie does the lights, we’re not able to go help those kids. So we have trained these little ones to do not just acting but to do stage management, and to work back stage and to help each other out. It’s actually really incredible to see what these little ones can do,” stated Sanders.
The production will be held at the Price Civic Auditorium with free admission but a suggested gift of $5.00 for adults or $20.00 for family can be made at the door. “So our shows are July 22, 23 and 25. We have two full performances and the reason we did this is because we have a cast of 64 kids this year – way too many kids to do one show, so we divided it into two. The hope is that people will come to both shows but if you have kids that need to get to bed or whatever can come to the early show at 5:30 pm, that would be Treasure Island. Then we have the senior acting performance of Robin Hood at 7:00 pm. The point of that is again, come to one, come to both, it doesn’t matter we just want people to come please,” said Sanders. There will be a matinee offered on Saturday, July 23 with Treasure Island at 12:30 pm and Robin Hood at 2:00 pm. Plus on Saturday there will be evening showings at 5:30 pm with Treasure Island and at 7:00 pm with Robin Hood.
