
Carbon volleyball got back to work for the 2022-23 campaign on Tuesday night, taking on the Juab Wasps, in the gym at Carbon High School. The Lady Dinos jumped out taking the first two sets before losing a close one in the third and claiming one more and taking a 3-1 victory in front of the home crowd.
The Dinos are looking to get back to the State Championships this season. Last season, the Dinos held the No.1 ranking in 3A during the season and then ran into Richfield. Many faces from last season are back including Madi Orth, Lyndee Mower and Jeanna Richards.
Carbon jumped out grabbing the first two sets in commanding fashion 25-11 and 25-19. Juab came back, taking set three in a close one, 25-22, waking up the Lady Dinos who came back finishing off the Wasps in what would be the final set 25-8.
Orth was back to her form from last season, putting up 19 digs and 12 kills. Dani Jensen collected 12 kills and Makayla Pugliese stacked up 15 digs. Sav Hurst joined in with 33 assists.
Carbon is back on the court Thursday ninght as they welcome Duchesne to town. Game time is set for 6:30.
