Green River Pirate baseball has been looking for that first win since the season started back on Aug. 3.  Almost one month into the season they have shown that they can put up runs like in the 13 run effort against Pinnacle, but still have not been able to put it all together. The last outing with Altamont on Tuesday was an 11-1 loss.

In their last few contest Green River hasn’t been able to produce much offense. A 14-4 loss at Valley coupled with a 10-0 loss against Bryce Valley at home landed them at the No. 13 spot in the Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI. The RPI is a ranking of all teams in 1A and will be used at the end of the season to rank teams for the playoffs.

On Tuesday night the Pirates faced the Altamont Longhorns (No. 5). The Pirates put the first run on the board in the top of the second inning when Cristian Venzor scored on a passed ball, making it 1-0, after that it was all Altamont, who would score four in the second, three in the third and four in the fourth pushing the score to 11-1 and ending the contest in five.

Venzor was 1-2 from the plate with one run scored and Bridjer Meadows was 1-2 from the plate as well.

On the mound, Jarrett Guerrera got the start going one inning with four earned on one hit. Meadows came in to go 1 1/3 and gave up two earned on one hit while striking out one. And Raul Mendoza went 1 2/3 innings with four earned on five hits.

The Pirates will welcome in the No.1 in 1A, Panguitch on Wednesday. Panguitch enters the contest at 13-2.

Game time is set for 3 p.m..
