Coming off a 6-4 win over Merit Prep, Pinnacle came home to welcome No. 3 Bryce Valley.  After three big innings from the Mustangs the Panthers were down 9-0 and couldn’t come back ultimately falling 14-3.

Pinnacle is sitting in the No. 9 position in the RPI that was released by the UHSAA earlier in the week. They will continue to update that number until the playoffs at the end of the season.

Bryce Valley came out scoring four runs in the first, three in the second and two more in the third. heading in to the bottom of the fifth the Mustangs lead the Panthers 14-0, meaning that Pinnacle would need at least five runs for the contest to go to the sixth.

Brody Howell came up to the plate with Todd McFarland on first, and after a passed ball that moved McFarland to second, Howell singled to center bringing home the run. Later in the inning Ryker Howell came to the plate with two outs and laid down a single that drove in Brody Howell and Joey Howell.  Carlos Alcon would ground out to the third baseman ending the inning and Pinnacle’s comeback at 14-3.

McFarland and Brody Howell were both 1-3 in the game with both adding a run scored and Brody Howell earning an RBI. Ryker Howell and Alcon went 1-3 and Ryker Howell contributed two RBI’s.

Joey Howell got the start on the mound getting  and taking the loss after three innings of work giving up nine runs (two earned) on six hits and struck out three. Brody Howell went two innings and surrendered five runs (four earned) on six hits with three strikeouts.

The Panthers travel to Orderville to face Valley on Friday.
