The 36th Annual Helper Outlaw Car Show & Cruise will take place on Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3 at the Helper City Park. Event Coordinator, Mike James stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details of the car show.

“I think this will be the biggest year that we’ve have it and this year is sort of a special year because the first car show in 1987 we had 36 cars and this is the 36th year,” said James. Last year the car show had 156 vehicles from all over the state and filled up the Helper Park. This show is open to all vehicles and the cost is $10.00 per vehicle.

The awards this year are very unique items that will be presented to winners. “The last three years I’ve put it on Labor Day, we went to give moonshine jugs away and I have some really cool ones that have trains on them, that are made right in Helper by The Dawn’s Light. We’re doing two special trophies. We do this every year. We’re doing one for Thomas Williams, we’ve dedicated the show to him and we did one for a friend of mine, Eric Gallagher. He was into cars and he was another guy that I did antiques with. So we got them each trophies, their families will come down and just give them away,” said James. There are several divisions that the awards will be given to such as Mayor’s Choice and Sponsor’s Choice.

Participants can enter the car show on Saturday before 10:00 am or during the cruise the evening prior. “You can just come in and get registered; we may even register some cars at the cruise that we’re going to have on Main Street there in front of Vintage Motor Company across the street at the little park. Then after that we’ll have a Poker Walk on Main Street where you can walk down, if you’re in the car show, and get a card and somebody will win a prize for that,” explained James. The cruise on Friday night will begin at 6:00 pm.

There will also be a pin-up contest at 2:00 pm on Saturday and free swim is available for all the children. For more information or questions on the event please call (435) 820-8320.
