Jeneane Ann Olson-Powell passed away peacefully at home in Spring Glen surrounded by her family on September 1, 2022 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Mom was born June 7, 1939, the fourth child of Carl Ray and Frankie Elene Bentley Olson. She was raised on a beet farm in Miller Creek where she learned how to work hard and laugh even harder. Mom knew what it was like to slop pigs, feed and clean chickens, pump water from the well, she knew how to stomp hay and thin sugar beets, and walk the snowy path to the outhouse. Mom also knew what it was like to bath in a #2 tub with water heated on the coal stove. Walking up hill both ways in the snow, the trip to school was a monumental endeavor.
Mom was one of the first waitresses hired at the Cowboy Country Kitchen in Wellington, Utah. She also was a union representative for Koret of California and made ends meet working at the Carbon County Country Club, with her crowning achievement having raised her five children. She was very proud of each and every one of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She loved gardening but petunias were her priority. She was the third leg of the Olson Sisters Trio. She loved singing harmonies with her sisters Brenda and Karla. She loved baking brown bread (zucchini bread) for her grandkids. They loved brown bread, “Make me some brown bread grandma” could be heard from her grandkids. She enjoyed camping, music, singing and accompanying the guitar.
She is survived by her children, Billie (daughter) and Joseph Sacco, Jan (son) and Maryann Alley, Earlene (daughter) Alley, Kris (son) Alley, Casey (daughter) Samples; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, Martin Olson, Frank Olson and Gordon Olson; three sisters, Joyce Williams, Brenda Knotts, and Karla Park.
Preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Frankie Olson; son, Dan Kent Alley; husbands, Jack Roberts, Henry Earl Alley, Larry Samples, and Butch Powell; sisters, Loretta and Tom Ward, Karolyn and James MacLean.
