The USU Extension Office is excited to offer a workshop entitled The Process of Healthy Grieving on September 13 and 14 at the USU Extension Classroom in Price. This free two-night workshop is for everyone who wants to explore grief. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with the presenter, Natasha Gwynn, Hospice Chaplain to discuss the workshop details.
This is a great workshop for anyone facing grief whether that’s the death of a loved one or loss of a job, grief comes in many forms and has many causes not related to death. Grieving is different for everyone as Gwynn explains, “We’re going to go through some of the ways, I have handouts as well on different ways grief shows up in your life and what it can look like, and it doesn’t mean that everyone will exhibit the same ones but you can see sometimes that they are completely opposite.”
Participants will also learn about the five stages of grief and the four tasks of morning. There will also be the opportunity to explore the warning signs that indicate when the grief process is not processing naturally. “I want everybody that is possibly interested in this at all to be able to come and realize all the ways that grief affects us, not just with death, and to learn healthy ways to deal with the grief and we’re also going to talk about warning signs that you’re stuck in your grieving process or someone else’s and its time to reach out for help,” stated Gwynn. About 80 percent of people get through grief completely healthy, while 20 percent get stuck somewhere along the process.
There will be engaging discussion as well as plenty of time for questions and answers.
