
Green River volleyball is sitting at a 2-5 overall and 2-1 in Region 23 play. Starting the season off with four straight losses, the Lady Pirates have gone 2-1 in their last three with a win over rival Pinnacle in straight sets and in their last contest against Whitehorse claimed a 3-0 victory in straight sets as well.
Green River is in the exact middle of their schedule with seven games remaining starting off with No. 8 Wayne at home on Tuesday. Going 2-5 in the first half of the season they faced two teams out of classification in Grand and North Sevier and also faced teams from Escalante and Monticello.
The contest with Whitehorse was over quickly with Green River dispatching them in straight sets 25-12, 25-4 and 25-16.
Beginning the back half of their schedule with Wayne, the Lady Pirates will face just three teams inside the top 10. Wayne (No. 8), Monticello (No.9) and Monument Valley (No. 3) twice. The other three will put them up against Whitehorse and Pinnacle as well as Grand from 3A.
First up is Wayne. In their initial meeting this season on Aug. 12, Wayne got the better of the Pirates 3-0.
