
Carbon, Emery and other teams from around the state made their way to the Carbon Country Club on Wednesday for the Carbon Invitational meet. For the Dinos, freshman Rozyln Stowe took first place on the girls side and for the Spartans it was Addie Hurst crossing the finish line in fifth. On the boys side Carbon’s Braxton Ware finished second overall with Emery’s Camdon Larsen in third.
Stowe claimed first place overall turning in a time of 18:12, she was followed by Cadence Kasprick of Grand, with a time of 18:34. Ainsleigh Kasprick, also of Grand was third. Autumn Huntington of Payson and Addie Hurst of Emery, rounded out the top five.
Stowe has been lighting up the cross country circuit this year with plenty of top finishes for the Dinos. Ambree Jones was the next top finisher for the Dinos coming in sixth out of 67 runners. Lindsie Fausett ended in eighth, Sophie Taylor was in 11th and Beverly Lancaster rounded out the Dinos top five, finishing the day in 13th.
For the Lady Spartans, Carlie Hurst ended in 23rd. Kallee Cook, raced to 26th. Ryleigh Meccariello in 35th and Kylee Willis in 38th made up the rest of of Emery’s top five.
Richard Crane of Richfield grabbed another first place finish this season with a time of 15:47. Braxton Ware claimed second place for the Dinos crossing the finish in 16:24, and Camdon Larsen of Emery earned third in a time of 16:28. David Anderson of Uintah and Thomas Daniels of Canyon View came in fourth and fifth place respectively.
Following Ware and rounding out Carbon’s top five finishers were Garrett Black in seventh, Easton Humes in 11th place, with Sean Stromness in 21st and Bradley Sweeny in 23rd. Over 80 runners took part on the boys side of the race.
After Larsen’s top three finish for the Spartans, Merritt Mecarriello ended the day in 13th. Dillan Larsen (20th), Mason Stewart (33rd) and Mason Hurdsman (35th) made up the remainder of of Emery’s top five finishers.
The Dinos will head out to the Bob Firman Invitational in Idaho on Friday and Saturday.
The Emery Spartans head back to the course next week when they will compete at the meet in Grand County.
