Green River baseball ended their regular season with a pair of losses to Bryce Valley and Panguitch. After the final two games, the Utah High School Activities Association released the final RPI for the season as well as the bracket for the 1A State Baseball Championships. Sitting at No. 13 the Pirates will face Diamond Ranch Academy on Friday in a play-in game.

The Pirates have had a rough season compiling a record of 2-14 overall and 1-13 in 1A South play.

In the game with Bryce Valley last Wednesday the Pirates couldn’t get anything going at the plate and collected just one run in the top of the seventh. Ryker Meadows and Camden Anderson each had one hit and Luis Hernandez gathered a hit and a run.  Bryce Valley earned a 9-1 win in the contest.

Raul Mendoza started on the mound going 5 1/3, surrendering five earned runs on seven hits and struck out one. Meadows came in to close out the contest.

In the final regular season game the Pirates faced No. 1 Panguitch. The game itself got off to a really quiet start, but erupted in the third and fourth innings when Panguitch exploded for 15 runs. They also held Green River hit less ending the game in five innings. Taking a 16-0 win.

Three pitchers were on the mound for Green River as Bridjer Meadows would get the start going 2 2/3 giving up eight earned runs on four hits and striking out two. Hernandez entered the game giving up two earned and Ryker Meadows went the final inning giving up three earned and struck out two.

Now the Pirates will turn their focus to Diamond Ranch Academy, a team that Green River just beat 22-4 two weeks ago. The two teams will meet up in a play-in game on Friday, the winner will move on to face No.5 Wayne on Saturday. Both games will take place in Spanish Fork.
