Two games now stand between the Lady Dinos and the end of the regular season after the weekend in Richfield and the Sevier Valley Tournament. The Dinos took on teams from around the state ending the weekend with a 3-2 record.

The trip to Sevier Valley is a good way to get ready for the State Championships that will start next Saturday at home sites, with two games on Friday and three on Saturday it was non-stop action both days.

In their opening match, Carbon took on the South Summit Wildcats, who sit at 14-13 and the No.12 spot in 3A. The Lady Dinos dropped the first set 26-24, putting that one behind them it was all Dinos the rest of the way 25-23, 25-13 in set three and 25-22 in set four.

The last game on Friday was against Grantsville (17-8)  No. 3 in the RPI ranking.

Carbon started slow in this match as well, falling in the first set 25-22. After that though they put the hammer down taking set two 25-18 and then closed out Grantsville 25-22 and 25-18 winning in four sets 3-1.

First up on Saturday, it was another meeting with the No. 2 team in 2A Kanab (19-5). Going back to the beginning of the season on Aug. 26, the Cowboys beat the Dinos 2-0 in tournament play, in this match, Carbon wouldn’t do much better, falling 3-1.

The Cowboys came out claiming victory in the first two set 25-10 and 25-23. Carbon fought it out in set three taking a hard earned 27-26 win. Kanab came back in the fourth set closing out the Dinos 25-22.

The San Juan Broncos (12-11, No. 10 in 2A) were the next opponents for  the Lady Dinos who got off to a quick start taking a 25-17 win in set one and a 25-10 win in set two. The Broncos came back earning a 25-22 win in set three, however the Dinos had the last word winning set four 25-20.

The final game of the weekend put the Dinos up against the Grantsville Cowboys once again, who would come out looking for a bit of revenge as they took the first set 25-22. The next set was a battle with Carbon emerging victorious 27-25, but sadly that was it and the Cowboys closed out the remaining two sets 25-15 and 25-23 winning the match 3-1.

Carbon holds a 15-8 overall record which includes a 5-2 Region 12 mark and is sitting at No. 5 in the 3A RPI with two regular season games left.

On Wednesday the Emery Spartans come to town. The last time these two met up it was in Castle Dale and the Spartans came out the winners 3-1. After that the Richfield Wildcats will be in Price on Senior Night, Tuesday October 18.

Both games are set to start at 6:30.
