Our loving mother and grandmother, Doris Kennick Bottoms, age 93, passed peacefully November 14, 2016 at home with her loving family around her.
She was born February 19, 1923 in Price, Utah to Hugh Rex and Eunice Hambrick Brandon. Doris married William “Bill” Kennick, July 8, 1940 in Price. They had six children prior to his passing on September 3, 1965. On February 24, 1978, she married Kenneth Leroy Bottoms in Grand Junction, Colorado. He preceded her in death on November 9, 1995.
Her children and grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved them all dearly. Doris was a loving and caring person who always thought of others first. One of her best qualities were her quick wittedness, humor and storytelling. Everyone who had the privilege to encounter this sure had a great laugh. She was extremely proud of her garden and yard, both were to die for. If you knew “Granny” at all, you knew that she absolutely loved her country music and especially liked sharing it with all of us.
As a little girl she loved to ride horses and as a grandma she loved to draw horses for all of her grandchildren. Doris would always say, “Horses are your best friend!” She will be dearly missed by all, especially her little “firefly”. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Elaine and Fred for taking such great care of “Granny” the past four years. Your tenderness and care will never be forgotten.
Survivors include her children, Bill (Kay) Kennick, Lois (Bob) Hansen, Virginia Cosby, Elaine Compagni-Marietti (Fred) and Jim (Betty) Kennick; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and a community of friends.
Preceded in death by her husbands, William (Bill) Kennick and Kenneth Bottoms; son, Larry Kim Kennick; grandson, William Kennick; and son-in-law, Frank “Chico” Compagni.
