The USU Extension Carbon County is hosting a few courses to help folks prepare for the upcoming holidays. They will be hosting a Stress Management for the Holidays course, as well as a Quick & Easy Cooking Class during the month of November. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Assistant Professor in Family and Consumer Sciences, Christina Pay to get all the details.
There will be a Stress Management for the Holidays course held on Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 6:30 pm for anyone that could use some pointers on how to reduce the anxiety from the holidays. “We have a Stress Management Consultant, Amanda Riggs is going to come and talk to us and do some fun activities with us that help to reduce common holiday stressors. She’s going to teach you how to make some wonderful potpourri. Then she’s also going to talk about coping strategies, what to do when you feel stressed, what can you do and so she’s going to share those coping strategies and some recipes. It’s just going to be a really nice evening,” explained Pay. The presenter will also share some unique and affordable gifts ideas for neighbors and friends.
On Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7:00 pm there will be another Quick & Easy Cooking Class that’s entitled Holiday Traditions: New & Old Holiday Favorites. “Well what we do is those of us that are in charge of Quick & Easy Cooking, the four of us, we come with our favorite holiday recipes and we prepare those and serve those. So that’s why its fun for us because we get to give you a little piece of our life and the things that we do to celebrate. We share traditions, not only in cooking but what we do in our homes with our families. It’s just again, a really laid back, just a nice evening to come and get the holidays kicked-off,” stated Pay. The delicious recipes that will be presented will be unveiled at the class so it will be an exciting surprise for attendees.
Both events will be held at the USU Extension classroom at 751 East 100 North, Suite 1700. To attend the events you are urged to pre-register on https://www.eventbrite.com/ or call the USU Extension office at (435) 636-3233.
