Our beloved husband, father, son, brother, coworker and lifelong friend, Mark Daniel Rutherford, age 53, passed away November 4, 2022 from an accident while finishing up a morning duck hunt.
Mark was a lifelong resident of Carbon County who was born in Price, Utah to Sherry and Clara Pretiger Rutherford on March 15, 1969. Mark graduated from Notre Dame de Lourdes Regional School, Carbon High School Class of 1987, Utah State University with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science, received his Master’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Idaho and later instructed Computer Science classes at USU Eastern. Mark enjoyed school; he just had a hard time showing up in his early years. Mark had a thirst for knowledge, and he loved studying math and astronomy. He was always up for an adventure and in usual fashion, if Mark was around then shit was going to happen. Whether he was waterfowl hunting, fishing, boating at Lake Powell, camping or rock hunting, you knew it was going to be one hell of an adventure.
On September 21, 1996, Mark married the love of his life, Teri Christman in Wellington, Utah. Teri completed Mark, and from this marriage they were blessed with a son Jace and a daughter Abby. Terri, Jace and Abby were the light of his life.
While residing in the area Mark was employed as an electrical engineer with PacifiCorp. Mark loved work, his coworkers, and he was always preparing for the next challenge. If Mark wasn’t overhauling something at the plant, then you could expect that he was overhauling something at his home. His front yard became Mark’s Paint-N-Body and 100% of his adventures always ended up getting painted, rebuilt, repaired or overhauled in the driveway. Mark touched the lives of everyone he met. His smile and laugh were contagious, and he was a friend to all. “Rest In Peace Sado, You Will Be Dearly Missed By All.”
