Our beautiful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother “grandma grape,” sister, aunt, and friend, Judy Marie Anderson, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with Dementia in the early hours of November 4, 2022.
Judy was born to Ted and Lucy McKendrick Anderson on December 16, 1939 in Price, Utah. In March of 1957, Judy married Jerry Marchello in Spring Glen, Utah, later divorced, together they had two daughters, Jeri Lynn (Rodger) Atwood and Joy (Mike) Gipson.
Judy was fiercely independent, strong willed, and a hard worker who loved to keep busy. She spent many years working in food service and then in retail. Judy was the manager of the Kmart Garden Center where she prided herself on her knowledge of plants and helping those who needed guidance in their gardening. She later moved to Oregon, where she spent several years in facilities services on the campus of Willamette University. After retirement, she spent time listening to students read at Pinnacle Canyon Academy where she was lovingly known as “Grandma Judy” to both staff and students.
Judy loved to work in her yard and grew the most beautiful roses in the area. Her yard was a work of art that she made sure never had a weed to be seen. She spent endless hours in her yard making sure it always looked perfect.
Judy’s family was her pride and joy. She was never happier than when she could be around her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She would do anything to make sure they were all taken care of and happy. Judy was at her happiest when they were all around.
Judy is survived by her daughters, Jeri Lynn (Rodger) Atwood and Joy (Mike) Gipson; grandchildren, Ashley (Tim) Downard, Heidi (Jason) Christensen, Drohc (Sabrina) VanWagoner, Kylee VanWagoner, Josh Atwood, and Eliza Atwood; great-grandchildren, Zoey Christensen, Lailey Downard, Trip Downard, Zayne Christensen, and JazLynne Laws; brother, Ted (Beryl) Anderson; sisters, Marjorie Prettyman Jones and Lorna Sherman; close friend, Lavar Stansfield; and multiple nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and had the privilege of calling her mom, grandma, “grandma grape”, sister, aunt, and friend.
