Phyllis Lorraine Rowley Poloni departed this earth on November 11, 2022 to be reunited with her forever sweetheart, Art. Oh, what a joyous reunion it must have been.
Phyllis was born October 13, 1928 to Howard Derral and Flora Brasher Rowley in Huntington, Utah. The second of three daughters, she always said she was her daddy’s farm hand and worked diligently alongside him on the family farm. When she was ten years old a brother finally came along. Phyllis held onto that firm work ethic her whole life; no matter if it was the years spent working at JC Penney, Co., sewing clothes for her family, making her yard a dreamscape, or making improvements to she and Art’s beloved second home (the cabin) later in life near Miller’s Flat. She was a pillar of love and strength, and has surely left an impression on most she came in contact with.
Phyllis met the love of her life, Arthur Poloni, when she was just 19 years old. They dated a short while, then married in 1948 and were later blessed with two daughters, LeAnn and Ilene. She lived in the first home they purchased for 67 years until shortly before her passing. She was so proud of the life they made and shared together and loved her little home.
Phyllis had a deep and ferocious love for her family. After retiring she and Art spent as much time as possible with their daughters and their respective families. There has never been a prouder grandmother than Phyllis. She bragged about her grandchildren every chance she got and as long as they were physically able she and Art went to all the sporting events, choir and band performances, musicals, plays, etc. that they possibly could and loved every moment. She baked the best chocolate drop cookies and threw the fanciest tea party’s in the backyard in the shade of the lilac bushes. She was fearless and kind, stern when needed, and a true force of nature. Her daily presence in our lives will surely be greatly missed.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters and their husbands, LeAnn and Ralph Whitesides of Logan, Utah and Ilene and Darrell Cunningham of Price, Utah; two younger siblings, Glyda and Howard; grandchildren, Jessica, Laura, Molly, Andrew, Clayton, Tyler, and Katelyn; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great granddaughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Art; parents, Howard Derral and Flora Brasher Rowley; in-laws, Bernardo & Julia Poloni; eldest sister, Daphine; grandson, Christopher; and great-grandson, Milo.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Heirloom Inn, Michaela Fossat and Bonnie Kirkwood at Symbii Home Health and Hospice, and her sweet friend and neighbor, Michael.
