The Carbon Caring for Kids food program is looking for assistance from the community to help with meal kits to cover the upcoming Christmas Break. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Coordinator, Marcy Loveless to get all the details.

“So it’s going to be a lot like Thanksgiving, we’re just going to be adding a few more meals in it. We cannot provide enough food for the entire break or else the bags, we wouldn’t be able to fit them all in the bags, and that’s one thing the counselors are saying is make sure the bags are doable. I think we have put in eight to nine meals of dinners, and snacks, they’ll get a loaf of bread, and a box of cereal as well as for the full Christmas break,” stated Loveless. You can get a list of items that make up a meal kit on the Carbon Caring for Kids Facebook page.

Items that make up a meal kit are as follows:

1        box of cereal

5        microwavable Chef Boyardees

4        tuna/chicken & crackers (any flavor)

6-10   fruit cups

4        applesauce pouches/cups

8        granola bars

8-10   individual snacks (a variety if possible)

1             peanut butter

1             jelly (no glass please)

Once you have the meal kit put together and double bagged you can drop it off at Loveless residence at 1551 West Cedar Drive in Price.

The organization was blessed to have Price Chapel step up and provide a substantial number of meals kits this Christmas break. “Price Chapel, they have volunteered to pack and bring 100 kits and provide 100 loafs of bread as well for the Christmas break, which is huge. That is such a big undertaking, so we’re super grateful for them. They’re doing 100, so we need 54 left or more, and we have I think 25 people who have signed up since then. So we’re looking about 20 to 15 people left is what we need to sponsor a child,” said Loveless.
