Alexia Mortensen was 6-11 from three point land and Makailia Peacock handed out eight assists at the Spartan Center on Thursday night as Emery welcomed the South Sevier Rams to Castle Dale. A couple of big quarters from the Spartans helped seal the 66-56 win in front of the home crowd.

Coming off a win on Tuesday night over Union, the Lady Spartans were happy to be back home at the Spartan Center, the last time they played in Castle Dale was on November 22 against Judge Memorial.

The contest with South Sevier was a game of runs that started with a very quiet first quarter that ended with the Rams on top 10-7. Emery would push back in the second putting up 25 and taking a 32-22 lead into the locker room at the half.

Coming out in the third South Sevier would put together a run of their own outscoring the Spartans by nine in the quarter and whittling down the Emery lead to 42-41. The fourth was all Emery, putting up 24 in the quarter taking the lead for good and putting the Rams away by 10.

Behind Mortensen and Peacock’s contribution, Brielle Rowley found the basket with some consistency scoring 15 while grabbing five rebounds, and Kali Jensen would add nine.

The Lady Spartans are on the road next Thursday when they travel to take on North Sanpete. The home game they had scheduled with East High out of Salt Lake next Friday has been cancelled.

Emery will be back on their home floor on December 30, when they host Pine View. Game time is set for 5.
