The Christmas spirit is definitely on the minds of students and faculty at Castle Heights Elementary since returning from the Thanksgiving break.
Each year the school sets up an Angel Tree in the lobby of the school with names of students attending Castle Heights that are in need for the holidays. The Angel Tree is open to the entire public if they would like to help a child with their Christmas wishes.
The PTA has also been busy preparing for the Christmas holiday and have come up with a great idea for swag that can be purchased for gift ideas. “We went a little bit bigger than we have in years past. We have hoodies, we have shirts, we have blingy shirts, we have hats and beanies and everything you can possibly imagine we have it for you,” said PTA President, Rachel Staley. Order forms are available in the front office at the school.
Every year the PTA sets up a Santa’s Workshop where students can do their holiday shopping as Staley explains further, “The PTA does what’s called the Sant’s Workshop so that’s when we get all these fun little treats and toys and different items down at the school. The kids come in, go through and get presents for mom and dad, brother and sisters and the dog and the best friend. That will be happening on December 14th through the 16th.” Students will take their shopping list home for parents to look over and send money with their students to purchase their gifts. Santa’s Workshop will be open before and after school. If a student is unable to financially purchase gifts for their loved ones Santa’s Helpers will assist those students.
Staley reminded parents about the next upcoming PTA meeting, “I just want to mention that we have our PTA meeting on the 14th of December at 3:00 pm afterschool. I encourage everybody to come, they are more than welcomed. I love new ideas and love having the people and the parents involvement.”
