
The Emery Spartan wrestling team was in Herriman over the weekend to participate in the Rockwell Rumble, held at Real Salt Lake Academy. With 71 schools taking part, this was a huge tournament with schools coming from as far away as California. The Spartans would place 27 out of the teams there fro the two-day event.
The Spartans have just handful of meets left before the weekend of February 3 and 4, when the Divisional tournament takes place in Richfield.
Clovis, a school from California, earned the top spot at the tournament, followed by Layton in second. Payson, Juab and Millard made up the top five.
Monty Christiansen grabbed a second place finish with a 5-1 record. Christiansen lost in the Championship Match to Thunder Lewis of Clovis in a 2-1 decision.
Corbin Jensen at 113 pounds, went 3-2 in his matches while Merritt Meccariello finished the weekend 3-1 in the 126 pound weight class.
The Spartans will be at home on Tuesday to take on South Sevier, which will be senior night at the Spartan Center. This weekend they travel to Enterprise for a two day tournament.
