Our loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Mathew Biondich, 92, passed away January 12, 2023 at the Beehive Home of Spanish Fork.

He was born November 7, 1930 in Spring Canyon, Utah to Mathew and Dragica “Caroline” Yerkovich Biondich.  On March 2, 1957 he married the love of his life, Roberta Mae “Bobbie”  Bezyack at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Helper, Utah.  Bobbie preceded him in death on December 8, 2012.

Mat was raised in Carbon County and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1947-1951.  After serving in military, he returned to Carbon County where he worked in several area coal mines prior to moving to Colorado in 1960.  Mathew enjoyed his mining career and in 1969 he became a Federal Mine Inspector, retiring eventually in 1990.  Mat had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting with family at the Diamanti Ranch in Colorado.  He also loved fishing, polka dancing and making sausage. Mat had a zest for life and he brought great joy and excitement to every occasion.  Everyone will miss his contagious smile and his genuine love for others.  Mathew will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survived by his three children, Belynn Lofthouse, Wellsville, UT, Louis (Mechelle) Biondich, Price, Mathew (Susan) Biondich of Rio Vista, CA; sisters, Caroline “Dockie” Storm and Mary (Pat) Boyack; five grandchildren, Maddie Jo (Lance) Bird, Casey Jo (Tyler) Rowley, Jarod Louis (Brittany) Biondich, Mathew Joel Biondich and Holly Belynn Biondich; three step-grandchildren, William, James and Kimberly Callaway; five great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kyser Biondich, Paxton and Hudson Rowley; and Mackenzie Biondich.

Preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Mae Biondich; and his siblings, Margaret “Mandy” Evans, Ann Jaramillo, Millie “Mitzi” Marinos, Steve Milkovich, George Milkovich, Paul Biondich, Joe Busio and Peter Busio.

Funeral service, Friday, January 20, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service.  Committal service and military honors will follow at the Mt. View Cemetery in Helper, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price and Huntington where friends are welcome to share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
