The final Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI rankings for the 2022-2023 3A girl’s basketball season were released Saturday, setting the table for the State Championship Tournament to begin Wednesday.

Grantsville, from Region 13 claimed the No.1 overall spot ending the season with a 21-2 mark. Richfield from Region 12 and posting a 19-3 record came in at No. 2. Morgan sits at No. 3, with the Lady Dinos at four. Juab rounds out the top five, and the Lady Spartans earned the No. 9 position.

Now that the final rankings are available they are used as seeding for the tournament that begins Wednesday at home sites throughout the state. The top 12 teams will receive a first round bye and will start play on Saturday.

In the four games played on Wednesday night the higher seed will host the lower seed, with the four winners moving on, a loss will end the season. The schedule for Wednesday will be:

*No 13 Summit Academy VS No. Providence Hall

*No. 14 Ben Lomond VS No.19 Union

*No. 15 Juan Diego VS No. 18 South Summit

No. 16 American Leadership VS No. 17 North Sanpete

The second round of the 3A State Tournament will begin this Saturday, once again taking place at home sites.  Carbon will welcome in the winner of Summit Academy and Providence Hall on Saturday at 1 p.m., and Emery will travel to face Judge Memorial, also at 1 p.m., in Salt Lake City. The field of 16 will be cut to eight:

*No. 8 Judge Memorial VS  No. 9 Emery  (KOAL 107.3 FM or 750 AM, 12:30 pre-game)

*No.7 Canyon View VS No.10 Manti

*No. 6 Layton Christian Academy VS No. 11 Ogden

*No. 5 Delta VS No. 12 Juab

*No. 4 Carbon VS Summit Academy/ Providence Hall (KRPX 95.3 The Peak, 12:30 pre-game)

*No. 3 Morgan VS Ben Lomond/Union

*No. 2 Richfield VS Juan Diego/South Summit

*No.1 Grantsville VS American Leadership/North Sanpete

All games are set to begin at 1 p.m..

The remaining teams will then travel to Cedar City and the campus of Southern Utah University, where the State Champion will be crowned over the course of three days between Feb. 23 and Feb. 25. From that point forward all teams will be guaranteed at least two games with a consolation bracket, if a team falls into that bracket the best finish would be third.

All Emery High School games will air on KOAL 107.3 FM, 750 AM and castlecountryradio.com.

All Carbon High School games will air on KRPX 95.3 The Peak, castlecountryradio.com and will also be available for free on the KRPX Radio App.
