Monty Christiansen is your 3A State Champion at 106 pounds. Christiansen along with six other Spartans finished in the top 10 in their respective weight classes at the 3A State Wrestling Championships held on Wednesday and Thursday at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield.

Christiansen had a stellar regular season, entering the two-day event in the No. 1 spot at 106 pounds. With his top ranking he received a first round bye, then winning his quarterfinal and semifinal matches by pin. In the Championship Match, he faced Krew King from North Sanpete, who had a season record of 38-6. Both wrestlers would gut it out, going the distance as Christiansen was crowned State Champion by a 6-3 decision.

Corbin Jensen earned a fifth place finish in the 113 pound class with a decision over Creed Butler of Delta, 9-7. Merritt Meccariello at 126 pounds finished in third place by pin over Porter Anderson from Juab.

Greg Suwyn, who also had a very successful 2022-2023 campaign, earned a fifth place state finish by pinning Lance Toone from Morgan.

Easton Thornley, earned a fourth place finish at 285 pounds, and Derrick Birch at 120 and Boden Christman at 150 pounds both earned sixth place finishes in their respective weight classes.
