It’s time once again for Castle Country Radio to catch up with Castle Dale City Mayor Danny VanWagoner about what is taking place in the city. He was eager to talk about the upcoming Youth City Council project to assist the town of Selma, Alabama who suffered a tornado.

There is a Bed and Breakfast that houses folks who come to town for the overhaul at the power plant. Mayor VanWagoner met an individual from Selma, Alabama who he kept in contact with over the years who recently reached out to seek help for their town after suffering a tornado. “In January he reached out to me and was really concerned about lack of FEMA, lack of help, from this F2 tornado that went through their town and really tore things up, didn’t kill anybody, but it really tore things up. So they’re in desperate need of what Castle Dale might be able to do for them,” said Mayor VanWagoner. Castle Dale City went through the process to become a sister city to Selma and now the city’s Youth Council is conducting a fundraiser to assist Selma.

The town of Selma is seeking help for mothers and infants who are needing baby supplies such as bottles, formula, diapers, and baby wipes. “So we’re raising money so we can buy the baby products because they are in need of baby formula and diapers, those necessities. We have a lot of baby bottles set up on Main Street at Castle Dale businesses and we have drop off boxes in Emery High, The Dance Studio, Earl’s Furniture in Huntington, and the City Hall,” said Youth City Council Member, Graycee Mills. The donations are much appreciated as there are folks in Selma that lost everything due to the tornado.

If you have any questions about the Selma Alabama Fundraiser you can contact any member of the Castle Dale City Council or Youth City Council for more information.]
