The USU Eastern Gallery East is excited to host an exhibit entitle Quiet Spaces that features two artists, Laura Lee Bradshaw and Jody Gerber. These two artists will feature drawings, paintings and sculpture from February 28 through March 31 at Gallery East located inside the Central Instruction Building on the USU Eastern campus.
Noel Carmack met Laura Lee Bradshaw on the flight years ago, as they begin talking about how they both were artists teaching at the college level. “We were just chatting, and come to find out we’re both artists. She said, well, I teach at UVU and it just so happens that I teach art at USU Eastern in Price, and of course she knew where that was. But we had a nice little conversation on this flight back. She and I have been you know in communication over the years. In fact, my son who attended UVU several years ago had a class with Laura Lee,” said Carmack. Bradshaw is quite a gifted sculptor and her display pieces will show how talented she really is.
Jody Gerber hauls from Emery County and is also a talented artist with her drawings and paintings. “Jody, she received an Undergraduate Degree from Dixie State, I guess its not Dixie State anymore, but later she went on to go to Laguna Beach, California where she received an MFA in painting. She does really beautiful work. A lot of portraiture, and I just thought that her work and Laura Lee’s sculpture work was quite compatible and I thought that it would make for a really nice show,” stated Carmack. Although that two artists have yet to meet their art is very compatible with one another and guests will be able to get that from the show at Gallery East.
There will be a reception at Gallery East on Mar. 3 for guests to have the opportunity to meet with the artists. “Friday, Mar. 3 they should be here from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We’ll have them come and you guys can come meet them, and ask them questions about their work, hopefully they’ll take some time and talk about their creative processes,” said Carmack. The exhibit will be on display at USU Eastern’s Gallery East from Feb. 28 through Mar. 31. Gallery East is located in the Central Instruction Building and its exhibits are free and open to the public during the academic year from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and closed weekends and holidays.
