Kylan Sorenson went 3-3 and Makayla Scovill struck out nine on Wednesday at Juab High School as the Lady Dinos stepped out of Region 12 play to collect an 11-1 win on the road.
Carbon now has earned back-to-back wins for the first time this season. The Dinos have one more game on the schedule before they jump into spring break. There was a game scheduled for Thursday in Moab but was canceled due to the weather.
Carbon got on the board in the top of the first off of a Reese Ardohain single to left and Jenna Richards would score. Later in the inning, Ardohain would advance to third on a passed ball and would score on an error by the catcher putting the Lady Dinos up 2-0.
Carbon would go quiet for the next couple of innings but then open the floodgates in the top of the fourth to put eight runs on the board. A Scovill triple to left scoring Haven Byerly and Taylor Secor, Scovill would score in the next at-bat off of a Richards single, pushing the score to 5-0. With the score 6-0, Brielle Sandoval smacked a single to left, and Sorenson and Gabby Vasquez would both score putting the Dinos up 8-0.
Moving to the top of the seventh, with the score now 10-1, Ardohain came up to the plate and sent a sacrifice fly to right field bringing home Danica Adams pushing the score to 11-1 taking the win.
Sorenson ended her day 3-3 with a run scored. Richards and Byerly both went 3-4 with two runs and an RBI each.
Scovill got the win on the mound giving up four hits, one earned run, and striking out nine.
Carbon is back on the field Friday when they travel to Manti.
