The Lady Dinos softball team traveled to Manti for a non-region tilt last week. Behind a huge fifth inning, Carbon earned the 13-0 win.

Carbon is sitting at 4-4 and 1-0 in Region 12 play. On Wednesday we will get our first look at the RPI for softball that will let us know where the Lady Dinos sit as they prepare for the final weeks of the regular season.

The Dinos were in control of this game from beginnning to end, holding a 5-0 lead into the fifth inning when the Carbon bats exploded in an eight run tirade.

Makayla Scovill got the ball rolling with a with a single to left driving in Adri Abeyta. Jenna Richards was the next batter up, grounding out to third and scoring Taylor Secor in the process. Gabby Vasquez sent a single to second and Scovill scored, making the score 8-0.

After a pitching change, Reese Ardohain sent a double to right field, Shayla Penovich and Kylan Sorenson each scored. With Ardohain and Haven Byerly on Brielle Sandoval sent a shot over the center field wall bringing everyone home pushing the score to 13-0, and taking the win in five innings.

Scovill went 5-5 with three runs scored and a pair of RBI’s.Vasquez went 2-3 with three RBI’s and a run scored and Sandoval was 1-4 with three RBI’s and a pair of scored runs.

Haven Byerly got the complete game shut out giving up two hits and striking out 14.

The Lady Dinos will be off until Wednesday, April 12 when they welcome the Richfield Wildcats.
