The Carbon Dino tack and field team continues to make a name for themselves as the Lady Dinos claimed the top spot at the Strata Invitational in Roosevelt, the boys finished in third out of 15 teams that competed.

Carbon continues to impress as they navigate their way through the final four meets of the season, with the regional championships coming up in Cedar City on May 10-11.

The Lady Dinos claimed first with 100 points, Union and Juan Diego tied for second with 87. Uintah and Rich made up spots four and five.

Relays showed just how much the Lady Dinos enjoy working together as a team, as they claimed four first place finishes in relays. In the sprint relay the team of Rozlyn Stowe, Mia Crompton, Kinlee Lewis and Gianna White took first with a time of 4:20.86. In the 4 x 200, Bailey Johnson, Kenedee Gunter, Lisa King and Josie Jespersen finished in a time of 1:58.93. Crompton, Lewis, Jordan Shorts and Amiah Timothy turned in a time of 53.82 in the 4 x 100 and Crompton, White, Sophia Taylor and Emma Bowman claimed the top spot in the 4 x 400 with a time of 4:32.56.

Individual top performances were another big reason for the Lady Dinos first place finish. In the 800, Stowe turned in a first place time of 2:23.41, Taylor finished in fifth. In the 3200, Lindsie Fausett finished in first, turning in a time of 12:34.22, Ambree Jones finished right behind in second place. White would go on to take third in the 400 with Bowman finishing in fifth. Taylor earned a fourth place finish in the 1600 with Fausett coming in fifth, and Crompton earned fourth in the 200.

In field events, Haley Garrish earned a second place finish in the shot put and a fifth in the discus, and Timothy took fourth in the long jump.

Host school Union earned top honors on the boys side of the track with 134.5, Juan Diego finished in second with Carbon taking third. Cottonwood and San Juan rounded out the top five.

The Carbon boys had four top five finishes in their relays. In the 4 x 200 Colin Fausett, Justus Clark, Ethan Prettyman and Hector Villalba earned a second place finish, Braxton Ware, Easton Humes, Garrett Black and Jaxson Jewkes finished the 4 x 400 in third place. The Carbon team ran to a second place finish in the sprint relay and Eric Holt, Traxton Jewkes, Mason Vasquez and Logan Palmer earned a fifth place finish in the 4 x 100.

Ware finished in second place in the 1600, Humes earned a second place finish in the 400. Riley Palmer finished in third for the 110 hurdles. In the 800 Humes earned a fourth place finish and Ware was right behind him in fifth.

In field events Bradley Wood claimed third in the shot put, and Traxton Jewkes had a fourth place finish in the high jump and a fifth place in the long jump.

The Dinos will be back on the track this Friday when they welcome in schools from around the region for the Eastern Utah Invitational.
