The Price City Library is gearing up for their Summer Reading Program, which will provide the entire summer with fun activities and resources geared around this year’s theme. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Library Coordinator, Tawnya Kulow to discuss all the details.
“Our 2023 Price City Library Summer Reading Program is All Together Now. The program will start June 6, will run through July 27. Every year we get a new theme, and this theme is something different than we had in the past and we get to take some different angles with it,” said Kulow. The program is free and takes place at the library with assistance from the librarians.
A unique thing this year will be that the Summer Reading Program will invite Community Heroes to come visit the students. “On Wednesdays, we will have that special visitor come and talk to them about their job that they do here in the community. You know if they’re a fireman, hopefully we have a fire truck here or if they’re the policeman, hopefully they bring their police car with them, the ambulance crew. We’re going to have a grocery man here, and one of the ladies from the Carbon County School District from the food area will be coming and talking to the children about eating healthy and school lunch and different things like that,” said Kulow. The library is thrilled to have Community Heroes come to assist them this summer.
Parents that are interested in having their child be a part of the Summer Reading Program are urged to contact the library. “We also have two other programs; we have a 6- to 8-year-old and they meet on Tuesday, and then we have a Tween Program that meets on Thursday, both of them will be at 1:00 pm. They just need to come down to the library, registration will begin May 8 through May 26. Let us know what age group they need, and we’ll get them signed up. All children need to be registered so that we can be prepared and ready to go when we start with that,” said Kulow. The 6- to 8-year-old group will have an opportunity to work with the USU Extension office to learn about Food, Fun & Culture.
