
The regular season for Carbon baseball is coming to a close, and that means final home games for seniors. On Friday, the Dinos celebrated the senior players on their roster and in the process handed the Richfield Wildcats a 5-4 loss in their final home game of the season, earning a series sweep.
The Dinos sit at 16-4 overall and finished the region portion of their schedule at 11-1 earning the league title. They have one game remaining on Monday against Union.
The Wildcats put up one run in the top of the first, and the Dinos answered back with a pair in the bottom with a swing of the bat, senior Ridge Nelson sent one over the wall in left driving in fellow senior Chet Anderson. The Dinos went on to add one more in the bottom of the second and than held on to that lead until Richfield would add three more in the top of the sixth, taking the lead 4-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, with one out and Camden Wilson and Wyatt Falk on base, Michael Vigil came to the plate grounding out to the shortstop, but that allowed Falk to score giving the Dinos the 5-4 win.
Colton Lowe was 2-4 with a run and an RBI, Nelson and Anderson were both 1-3 with Nelson adding two RBI’s and a run scored while Anderson added one run.
On the mound Maizen Prichard got the start, going five giving up three hits, with one earned run and struck-out seven. Anderson put in some time on the mound surrendering a pair of hits and a pair of earned runs while he struck out one. Stockton Kennedy put in an innings worth of work giving up a hit and struck-out two.
The Dinos will be back on the field on Monday when they travel to Union to face Roosevelt.
