Miss Carbon County, Eminie Elliot stopped by Castle Country Radio to share the importance of having a Healthy Diet.

“I’m going to be talking about my little health tip for the month and today its going to be on maintaining a healthy diet. When people talk about diet its usually not such a good thing but in general its just maintaining your life so you can live long and healthy,” said Elliot. The most important thing for individuals to do is to have three meals a day to help control appetite and increase feelings of fullness.

“Breakfast should be a decent sized meal, and then lunch should actually be your biggest meal, considering you need all of the energy so you can have a good day, you need all the protein, all the carbs. Then after lunch you can have a little snack, if you’re feeling a little drained, a little protein bar. After that is dinner, I know that dinner is emphasized on having a big dinner, you know you’re with the whole family, it’s a great time, but honestly it should be the smallest portion for the day because you’re not doing much at night,” explained Elliot. Eating late at night could cause acid reflux or negatively affect blood sugar management, blood pressure and weight.

There are four main food groups to eat from every day to get the nutrients you need for your physical and mental health. “Make sure all of your meals have some dairy, some proteins, carbs, just some grains are nice in here and there. I love rice and chicken, that’s my favorite meal to go to. But yea, I think if we follow the simple rules of being healthy and letting our bodies really fuel off what we need it to fuel off of, we’ll have a wonderful life and everyone can live long and healthy,” said Elliot. She shares a healthy tip each month on the Miss Carbon County social media pages.

Eminie is the daughter of Dustin and Misty Taylor and is the third oldest child of six children and is currently enrolled at USU-Eastern.
