The Emery Lady Spartans used a steady defensive performance to ease past the Duchesne Eagles 45-22 Tuesday evening on the road, winning their third consecutive game in the process.

Megan Jensen led all scorers with 14 points to go along with six rebounds as the Lady Spartans improved to 5-1 on the season. Kinlee Toomer chipped in with nine points and Taijah Price finished with seven.

Doubling up Duchesne in the first half, the Lady Spartans held an 18-9 advantage at the break. Emery exploded offensively in the third quarter while maintaining their dominance defensively as they outscored the Eagles 19-2. The fourth quarter was a mere formality in the non-league victory.

Kaylie Grant was the lone Duchesne player to reach double-figures as she finished with 10 points. Emily Jessen knocked down all six of her points from the three-point line, and Jayde Moon ended with four.

With Tuesday’s win in now in the books, the Lady Spartans have accumulated the second best winning percentage in Region 15 during the non-league portion of the schedule. North Sevier remains unbeaten at 4-0, and Grand currently sits 2-1. San Juan, Gunnison and Manti are all under the .500 barrier.

Only three games remain on the schedule before the Christmas break. Emery will wrap up a brief two game road trip on Thursday with a trip to Delta, before returning home on Tuesday to face Millard. The last game before the break will take place next Thursday on the road against Union.
