Now that school is out, the weather is warming up and Ferron City is looking to finish up its Adventure Hub Park and relocate the city dumpsters. Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Mayor Adele Justice to get all the details.

The Adventure Hub Park is located in Fairgrounds Park and is sure to bring in lots of visitors. “We’ve put in a retaining wall, done some landscaping work there and make look really nice. There will be picnic tables for people to just stop and be able to have a picnic. We’re in the process of installing a new playground and just a little walking path so you can get out and exercise your legs,” said Mayor Justice. City officials hope that they are able to develop other pathways out of the Adventure Hub Park going up towards Millsite and Clawson areas.

There will be a Public Hearing held regarding the relocation of city dumpsters that are currently sitting at the Fairgrounds Park. “So our meeting will be on June 14 at 7:00 pm at the City Hall, its just our regular Council Meeting and we’ll hold a Public Hearing in conjunction with that. Garbage is a hot topic in Ferron. So we have a location of the dumpsters in the Fairgrounds Park right where we just developed that Adventure Hub. So we need to move those dumpsters out of the park and find another area. We’ve got a few locations that we’ve looked at and we felt like it was just a good idea to get the public’s involvement in that,” said Mayor Justice. Everyone is the community is invited to the Public Hearing to voice their opinions of the relocation of the city dumpsters.

The spillway at Millsite is really close to spilling over and folks are urged to be cautious around this area. “We were up there last night and it was within six inches. So I haven’t been up there this morning but I anticipate that it’s probably spilling right now, if not, it will be very soon. They’ve predicted that the spill will last for at least a month, possibly more. So we are so excited, the golf course is absolutely looking amazing, and to have that water coming over the spillway while you’re playing golf is just spectacular,” said Mayor Justice. The city is also looking at installing a disk golf course along the golf course in the next few months.

The city is looking forward and busily preparing for their annual Peach Days Celebration. “Peach Days is coming and we always have a great time at Peach Days. So we’ll be working on solidifying a lot of the plans in our next meeting. We’re looking forward to having our Peach Days every year, it’s always such a fun event, and we get a good turnout. Its just a fun time for people to get together and we’re lucky enough to have a lot of people who have moved from Ferron for work for whatever, come back for Peach Days every year and so its just a fun time,” said Mayor Justice.
