It’s time once again for Castle Country Radio to catch up with Castle Dale City Mayor Danny VanWagoner about what is taking place in the city. He was so excited to announce that both Castle Dale City Days and Emery County Fair will run together this year making all the fun to be had in Castle Dale City in July.
“Alright on July 22 Castle Dale Days does start. At 2:00 pm we are having kids’ games, that’s quarters in the sand, that’s all the kids’ games you could imagine. At 4:00 pm we’re going to have our world famous, county famous, $2.00 barbeque, a burger for $2.00. Then at 6:00 pm, one of the new and real exciting things is going to be the motorcycle rodeo, and if you’ve never seen that, its in awe that you will watch these crazy guys on the motorcycles,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The motorcycle rodeo has become a fan favorite over the years so you can plan on have a great time.
The Special Little Luau will be held on July 26 at 4:00 pm for adults and children with special needs and disabilities. “Ok then on Wednesday, July 26 is the Special Little Luau. Now I’m throwing this out to every special needs person in Carbon, Emery County and Grand, the whole state. This is an exciting event for those special needs people. There’s not an age limit on it, we have free swimming, we have free food. There’s some busses that run from Carbon County, we’re just encouraging everybody with special needs and their family to come out and enjoy this time,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The gathering is an annual event to recognize and show appreciation to those individuals with special needs.
Now we are in to the Emery County Fair events and activities starting July 27. There will be car show, registration of county exhibits, kids rodeo, senior lunch & BINGO and a special screening of the Castle Valley Pageant film. “But the big thing is the Castle Valley Pageant there was a production company that filmed it when it was still going on and we are going to show that, its up at the high school in their auditorium. So it should be a lot of fun. It’s pretty special to get that, like I said, its use to be the main show to come down to Emery County, people came from all over the state just for that. So its going to be fun to show that film and everybody that’s in it,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The free screening is open to all ages and will begin at 7:00 pm.
Friday will feature a slew of events like animal exhibits, home run derby, vendors in the park, baby/toddler contests, rodeo, pet show, bounce houses, Hypno Hick and a Maddie Wilson concert. That night is all about the teens as they will be able to take over the Armory to play lots of games. “Then we’re going to have a Teen Night at the Armory which is up by the high school, it’s a brand-new building. It’s kind of an outdoor event, you can golf in it, you can football in it, you can basketball in it, and the teens are going to get to up there and have just a really good time and see something that’s really a showcase,” said Mayor VanWagoner. Saturday will feature more of the same events and activities as Friday for families to enjoy with the exception of a parade at 10:00 am plus a singing competition, cornhole and horseshoe tournament taking place that afternoon.
