Although its summer time on the campus of USU Eastern the Recruitment Office is gearing up for a new academic school year under the direction of a new Assistant Director, Kristalyn Hepworth. Castle Country Radio was thrilled to get her in to the studio to share what her office is doing to prepare for a new school year.

“Our team has actually been in place for just about a year, we started in August and we’re excited to be here. So my role as Assistant Director of Recruitment, is really to oversee kind of our general strategies and help our high school students in our community get educated best as we can,” stated Hepworth. She is looking forward to working with high school students to encourage them to continue their education by attending USU Eastern.

They also have two new Admission Specialists, Tecia Mose and Kevin Van Der Speck both are alumni and bring with them the experience of attending USU Eastern. “Their job is really to just go out to high schools in our local area and also everywhere else in the state, and sometimes out of the state as well, to spread the good word about USU Eastern to let people know how great it is to go to school here, and then to help students through every step of that process of getting admitted, filling out an application, and then getting enrolled and ready for classes,” said Hepworth. Both of the Admission Specialists’ number one goal is to grow the USU Eastern campus.

The office has incentives for incoming Freshmen this year. “To incentive students to confirm before the Fall Semester starts, we’re offering a big program full of incentives. They can win things like free Aggie ice cream for a year or a week of dining meals for free. We’re giving away some community packages like a date night package and some tourism packages as well. Make sure if you are a senior confirm your intent to enroll anytime, so the sooner the better, so you can get enrolled to win some of these really cool prizes,” explained Hepworth. If you have any questions on how to confirm your enrollment with USU Eastern call the Recruitment Office at (435) 613-5000.

In the Fall the Recruitment Office will host several Open Houses for students and parents to attend. “Open Houses happen every Fall and it’s a chance to come and see everything there is to see about USU Eastern, all in one place, at one time. We have academic representatives, and departments, you can apply there.  We also have Aggie Ice Cream. A few other things that are important for students to know if they’re interested in USU Eastern is we also do events for high school students that we call True Blue Days. We’ll host four of those throughout the school year and its where students can come and really pretend to be a student for a day. So they can get a feel for what it’s like, they’ll eat on campus, they’ll see a classroom, they’ll hang out with their peers, and then they’ll do a big activity to give them a sneak peek at college life,” stated Hepworth.
