It’s time for the Helper Arts, Music and Film Festival this weekend and one of the events taking place on Saturday, August 19 is the annual Car Show at 9:00 am.  Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with this year’s new Event Organizer, Jake Gray to discuss all the details.

This car show is not requiring pre-registration this year, just show up and enter your vehicle. “We’re not doing any pre-registration, just show up that morning. We’ll be there pretty early to help kind of coordinate and guide parking. Then our ladies that are our volunteers for registration they will show up just after 8:30 am, close to 8:45 am and then will get that going,” said Gray. Registration will be on the north end of Main Street in front of Vintage Motor Company and the registration fee is $20.00 per vehicle.

There is going to be a new way of entering the area where the car show will be held at. “In the past you still had to come in the north end of Main Street, down by St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, and there were always some side roads that were available, people would sneak in and out of, all of those will be closed this year for other reasons, parking. So you’ll need to enter and exit from the north end of Main Street down by the church. We’ll have signs and most of the people who attend this show have been here in the past, so they have a pretty good idea of the flow and it should work out,” explained Gray. All cars and trucks, makes and models are invited to attend, as well as motorcycles.

This year there will not be categories but it will be an open show. “What we did this year is we had a handful of sponsors. My dad and I, custom built 11 trophies, out of automotive parts and the sponsors will pick their pick. So it could be a motorcycle, a truck, a car, whatever, a boat, doesn’t matter, a camp trailer, whatever you bring, you can be in the running. That’s who will pick those awards, so they won’t be based on anything to do with us,” said Gray. The awards will be given out at 3:00 pm sharp on the Main Street Stage.
