Janis McKinnon Gitlin, age 78, of Price, Utah, passed away on August 16, 2023. She was born on November 5, 1944, in Price, Utah, to Robert Francis and Donna Mae Sherfick McKinnon. Janis was a wonderful teacher, loving wife, mother, and Granny.

Janis grew up in Hiawatha, Utah, on the Millerton Dairy Ranch, where they supplied milk to local mining towns Mohrland, Hiawatha, and Wattis. She dedicated 30 years of her life to teaching in the Carbon County School District. After retiring from teaching, Janis split her time between Price and Mesquite, Nevada. One of the highlights of her life was spending time with her grandkids. She cherished having her family visit her in Mesquite. Janis went on many great adventures and made countless memories while traveling the world with her beloved cousin, Connie Gragg.

Janis is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bob; children, Lisa Gitlin, John Gitlin, Mike (Genna) Gitlin; and her seven treasured Grandies; loving sister and brother-in-law, Suzie, and Ray Madrid.

Preceded in death by her parents, Robert Francis and Donna Mae; brother, Robert “Bobby”; and infant brother, John.

The Family would like to send their sincere thanks to the Heirloom and CNS for the loving care they provided Janis in her final days. Janis will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Memorial service, Friday, August 25, 2023, 11:00 a.m., Mitchel Funeral Home (233 East Main Street, Price, Utah) where the family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. Interment, Price City Cemetery.
