The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for their annual Golf Tournament taking place on October 6 and October 7 at the Carbon Country Club and there is still time to sign up your team. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Executive Director, Barbie Haeck to get all the details.

This tournament offers two options of play, Friday offers tee times and Saturday is a 9:00 am shotgun start. “So the way we do it is Friday they’re scheduled tee times from noon until 3:30 pm and then on Saturday we have shotgun start. So when you sign up a team, you can choose whether you want that team to golf on Friday or golf on Saturday or you can golf both days if you choose,” said Haeck. The cost for chamber members is $300.00 and non-members are $400.00. Players are responsible for green fees and cart rental.

Golfers will be awarded various prizes throughout the tournament, like the longest drive, closet to the pin and be given the opportunity to move their ball with licorice rope. “So you’ll be able to buy licorice rope and use that to move your ball. So if the licorice rope is 10 inches long and your ball is 10 inches from the hole, you can use your licorice rope and count that as in,” said Haeck. Players can purchase the licorice rope during the tournament.

Currently, the chamber is hosting a fundraiser drawing, where all the proceeds will be used for the annual First Responders Banquet in December. “All of that money collected from that fundraiser drawing will go towards our First Responders Banquet which will be December 6 this year. That’s an event the chamber hosts a free dinner for all First Responders and a guest,” stated Haeck. The tickets for the fundraising drawing can be purchased from any member of the chamber or stop by Castle Country Radio on Carbonville Road. The tickets are $5.00 each or 5 tickets for $20.00. The prizes range from gift baskets, paintings, home décor, electronics and so much more.
