Carbon sophomore Rozlyn Stowe earned her second straight state title at the state championships in Salt Lake City on Tuesday, leading the girl’s team to a third-place finish. Easton Humes finished in seventh overall on the boy’s side with the Dino boys ending the day in sixth.
Ogden claimed the top spot for the girls. followed by Canyon View, and Carbon. Emery and Judge Memorial rounded out the top five.
Stowe ended her season turning in a time of 17:45.4 more than :30 ahead of Union’s Jaylie Jenkins in second. Emery’s Gentry Christiansen finished in third, River White of Union, and Isabelle Costello made up the rest of the top five.
Stowe was followed by fellow Carbon teammate Sophia Taylor in eighth overall. Ellie Hanson finished at 19, Ada Bradford at 26 and Aly Bryner at 56.
In the boy’s division Canyon View claimed the top team prize, followed by Manti. Emery landed in fourth and Morgan in fifth. The Dinos were just on the outside of the top five in sixth.
Emery’s Camdon Larsen was the top 3A runner finishing with an overall time of 15:55.4, followed closly by a duo of Summit Academy runners: Stewart Woodward in second and Kaden McGovern in third. Kyle Steifeldt and Matthew Costello made up the rest of the top five.
Humes was the top Carbon finisher for the boys ending the day in seventh. Evan Criddle was at 26, Logan McEvoy at 31, Bradley Sweeny finished at 37, and Dallin Humes at 50.
