The Lady Spartan volleyball squad started their march towards a state title on Wednesday morning with a straight set win over the Grantsville Cowboys. The No.1 ranked Spartans jumped on the No. 16 Cowboys early in the first two sets and even though the final set was close Emery still came out on top.

The first set Emery definitely came out the aggressor wrapping it up 25-14. Set number two was more of the same with the Spartans taking the win 25-15.

In the final set, things got interesting as it came down to the wire between the two teams with the Lady Spartans coming out on top 25-23.

Emery will face No.8 Delta, after the Rabbits straight set win (25-14, 25-10, 26-16) over No. 9 Summit Academy. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m..

The match with Summit academy will wrap-up day one of the State Championships for Emery. A win and they will face the winner of No. 4 Canyon View and No. 5 Manti tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.. A loss will drop them into the consolation bracket where they will face the loser of the same contest at 9:30 a.m..
