Four Corners Community Behavioral Health and Southeast Utah Health Department are excited to be hosting a Multicultural Resource Fair on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 10:00 am till 2:00 pm on the campus of USU Eastern. Disparities Officer, Aurelio Rodriguez stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details.
“The whole purpose of a resource fair is to bring resources to the community and try to overcome that disparity or disparities that might exist. So it’s going to be at USU Eastern campus, they’ve been gracious enough to allow us to host it there. I’ve been working with the Southeast Utah Health Department, specifically with Brenda Addley to put this on,” said Rodriguez. The duo is looking forward to seeing the entire community out for this free informational event.
There will be several resources on hand for both children and families. “So far, we have over 15 organizations that have signed up to participate. We’re going to have giveaways, some refreshments, so it’s going to be a fun event. Not only is it to come and learn, but hopefully families and individuals can come and have a good time as well,” stated Rodriguez. The event will benefit those seeking further information or services ranging from mental health to early childhood, to career education and legal assistance.
Not only will the Multicultural Resources Fair offer an opportunity to meet local organizations but they also invited a few outside agencies. “So, if you have any family members, any friends, any acquaintances, neighbors that speak Spanish and that have had issues accessing mental health or even legal resources, we’re going to have several organizations there that will be helping Spanish speaking clients specifically with that,” explained Rodriguez. Those scheduled to attend are Multicultural Counseling Center, Latino Behavioral Health, Utah AHBC and Health Choice Utah.
“We’re going to have entertainment as well; we’re going to have the USU Eastern Drumline and I think we’re going to have Ben Mead, who’s a Cowboy Poet, I believe and presentations throughout the fair. So come out and have a good time,” stated Rodriguez. Again, this event will take place on the campus of USU Eastern inside the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on Saturday, November 4 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
