This week’s Carbon School District update shines a spotlight on Bruin Point Elementary where Principal Connie Todachinnie took time to speak about the Halloween activities, school attendance program, and community BINGO event.

“We ended first quarter with a bang. We’re really focusing on attendance this year, and academic progress, reading and math. We just had our attendance celebration for first quarter, we had a mini-Halloween carnival and we had about 45 – 46 kids that got to attend that,” said Principal Todachinnie. Students who missed less than 3 days of school were able to attend the carnival.

The school held their fun Halloween activities and the children had so much fun.  “Earlier this week we had Halloween BINGO that was done by our PTO and then our Halloween Trunk or Treat that was done by our teachers and our kids really enjoyed them,” said Principal Todachinnie. The school’s PTO are so kind for putting on various activities for the students throughout the school year.

Bruin Point Elementary has put its focus this year on attendance. “Like I said we focus on our attendance highly. It’s not just that they receive awards quarterly. Classes that have 100 percent attendance get a small treat every day. So we’re really focusing on getting our kids here, we can’t improve our academics if we don’t have our students here,” said Principal Todachinnie. Good attendance increases a student’s academic success.

The school’s PTO is hosting a Community BINGO Night and are hoping that families will come out to support the school. “So it’s going to be happening in the next week or two, we’re really excited. We’re going to be sending home notices with our kids, it will be posted on our Facebook page and our website. It’ll be posted at the Post Office and at Miner’s. So we’re really looking forward to that, we hope that we get a really good turnout like we did last time,” said Principal Todachinnie. Parents are urged to keep an eye out for the flyer with all details on the Community BINGO Night event.
