Over the weekend swimmers from Carbon and Emery traveled to Cedar City to take part in the Cedar Invitational. The Spartan girls finished in 11th place and the boys finished in tenth. And on the Dinos side, the Lady Dinos landed in fifth place and the boys ended the weekend in ninth.

This was the second meet of the season for the Spartans and the Dinos after they kicked off the year last week at the Aquatic Center in Castle Dale.

On the girls side of the scoreboard it was Pleasant Grove finishing in the top spot followed by Davis in second. Cedar City, Canyon View, and Carbon made up the top five. The Lady Spartans ended the weekend in 11th.

For the Lady Dinos, Alyssa Chamberlain had a pair of fourth place finishes in the 50-yard free and the 100-yard free. Evie Halk landed in fourth in the 500-free. In the 200-yard free relay, the team of Chamberlain, Hadley Bower, Mia Crompton, and Lisa King swam their way to the third place spot.

For the Lady Spartans, Melody Lake earned a second place finish in the100-yard breast stroke. Lake was also part of the Emery team along with Illyria Mason, Purity Mason, and Jessie Childs that claimed a fifth place finish in the 200-yard free relay.

Pleasant Grove also claimed first place on the boys’ side of the pool, followed by Canyon View in second. Cedar City, Davis, and Uintah made up the top five. Carbon landed in ninth and Emery in tenth.

A pair of top finishes came in relays for the Dinos, in the 200-yard medley the team Mason Engar, Jackson Thayn, Logan Kranendonk, and Cameron Jones swam to a ninth place finish, and in the 200-yard free Jones, Thayn, Engar, and Spencer Hepworth finished in eighth.

Emery had a couple of top ten finishes in relays as well. In the 400-yard free relay the Spartan team of Kade Larsen, Parker Jensen, Chase Huggard, and Adam Olsen came away with a seventh place finish, and the team of Olsen, Huggard, Trek Petersen and Tyson Laws claimed ninth in the 200-yard free.

Up next for both teams is a trip to Richfield on Tuesday.
