The 16th Annual Community Choir Christmas Concert will take place on Dec. 10 at 7:00 pm at the LDS Stake Center across the street from Washington Park. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Choir Members, Jan Young and Melissa Jeppson to get some details on how you can be a member of the Community Choir.

Right now, they are inviting anyone in the community who loves to sing to join them for upcoming rehearsals preparing for the big show on the Dec. 10. “So, Sunday, Nov. 12 – we do the 12th, the 19th, and the 26th. We do make you come sing after Thanksgiving, you’ve got to work off the turkey. Then Thursday, Dec. 7, we do just a one-hour run-through, kind of touch things up a little bit. Then the night of the concert we come at 6:00 pm, get the choir warmed up, and then the concert is at 7:00 pm,” explained Jeppson. The songs performed are well-known and recognizable. Auditions are not required, just a love for singing.

This is a free concert for community members to come and enjoy to get into the holiday spirit. There is also an opportunity for audience members to sing along with the choir. “We also have the five congregational songs that we do sing to and they are very familiar. I mean like Joy to the World, What Child Is This, contemporary, some are contemporary, some are from way back from the 17th century,” said Young. There will also be narrations between the songs, linking them all together for the audience to better understand the meaning of Christmas.

For more information about being a member of the Community Choir just stop by the LDS Stake Center on Sunday evenings at 5:00 pm.
