The USU Eastern Theatre Department is hosting a Clothing Drive that will help benefit their summer theatre tour. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Theatre Student, Brayden Summers to get all the details.

Just this past summer a group of students went on a summer theatre tour to Canada where they performed throughout the area.  “We just kind of traveled up north and immediately started in Canada but we had performed at UTA which is just a theatre conference for high schools and that was kind of our first show of the tour. We made our way up to Alberta, and after we performed in Canada, we just worked our way down south and performed at a couple of theatres one in Logan, one in Stansbury out in Tooele and then we made our way back home,” said Summers. The experience was amazing and to share their performances with other parts of the country was incredible.

To help with traveling expenses for the next summer theatre tour in 2025 the theatre department is hosting a Clothing Drive. “We are taking everything. Anything that’s soft goods. We’ll take bedding, towels, clothes. We’re taking shoes this year. We’re also taking old DVDs, that will be acceptable. They pay us 28 cents per pound. So we’re pretty much taking anything that you bring to us and we’re hoping for the best,” said Summers. The last day to make clothing donations is January 22. You can drop off your donations at the USU Eastern Geary Theatre or CIB Building on the campus of USU Eastern. There is a pickup option available too, all you have to do is call (435) 613-5202 or (435) 613-5228 to make arrangements.
