The Spartan swim team welcomed swimmers from Carbon, Grand, and North Sanpete to the pool at the Aquatic Center in Castle Dale. Continuing their great season, the Emery boys team claimed the top prize while the Lady Dinos earned the first-place finish on the girl’s side of the pool.

For the boys, Emery earned another first-place finish with 497 points, Carbon took second with 413. Grand was in third with North Sanpete taking fourth.

The Emery boys grabbed a trio of top finishes in relays this go-round taking first in the 200 medley in a time of 1:57.89, with the team of Tyson Laws, Trek Petersen, Will Stilson, and Kade Larsen. Larsen and Petersen were joined by teammates Chase Huggard and Parker Jensen for a second-place finish in the 200 free, and in the 400 free Jensen, Huggard, and Stilson added Jacob Stewart swam to another first-place finish with a time of 4:00.41.

Petersen earned some individual top spots as well with a first-place finish in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:35.38, and a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke, Larsen went on to finish third. A trio of Spartans earned the top three finishes in the 50 free when Stilson took first turning in his time of 25.61, followed by Huggard and Jensen. Stilson would also go on to take third in the 100-yard fly. Stewart earned a third-place finish in the 200 free, Huggard took second in the 100 free, and Laws and Jensen finished second and third in the 100-yard backstroke.

For the Dinos, James Tullis grabbed the first top finish of the day, taking the spot in the 200 free with his time of 2:20.69. Mason Engar also had a first-place finish in the 500 free turning in his time of 5:45.04. Followed by Bracken Hanson in second. Cameron Jones took second in the 200 IM, and Logan Kranendonk took second in the 100 fly.

As for relays the Dino team of Engar, Jones, Jackson Thayn, and Spencer Hepworth took first with a time of 1:43.38, and Engar, Kranendonk, Jones, and Thayn finished in second in the 200 medley. Hepworth, Kranendonk, Hanson, and Leland Kespel earned second in the 400 free.

On the girl’s side of the pool, the Lady Dinos finished in first place with 484 points followed by Emery with 416. Grand landed in third while North Sanpete claimed fourth.

Relays were once again very kind to the Lady Dinos in the first one of the day Ada Bradford, Lily Flores, Lily Thayn, and Alyssa Chamberlain earned a first-place finish with their time of 2:12.22 in the 200 medley. Bradford was joined by Rachel Blackburn, Mia Crompton, and Hadley Bower turned in the first-place time of 4:25.74 in the 400 free, and Chamberlain and Bower were joined by Ember Lyman and Kanyon Christensen for a second-place finish in the 200 free.

Crompton earned a first-place finish in the 200 free with her time of 2:19.75, Chamberlain earned a top finish in the 100 fly with her time of 1:17.29. Evie Halk finished in third in the race. Ellie Hanson finished in third place in the 200 IM. Jennacie Jefferey earned a third-place finish on the 100 free, and Bradford took third place in the in the 500 free. Flores would go on to claim second in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Evie Halk swam her way to a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke.

For the Lady Spartans, relays were good for them too. The Spartan team of Purity Mason, Illyria Mason, Melody Lake, and Jessie Childs took the top spot in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.16, in the 200 medley Purity Mason, Illyria Mason, and Lake were joined by Carley Young swam to a second-place finish. Childs was joined by Emma Grimm, Hadley Meccariello, and Annie Johansen earned second in the 400 free.

Young earned the only first-place individual finish for the Lady Spartans in the 100-yard breaststroke with her time of 1:21.45. Lake swam to a second-place finish in the 200 free. Childs took second in the 50 free, and the 100 free. Lake earned second place in the 500 free and Illyria Mason took third in the 110-yard backstroke.

Carbon will be off until Friday and Saturday when they travel to Cedar City for the Canyon View Invitational.

The Spartans will travel to Roosevelt to face Union on Wednesday and then be in Cedar for the Invitational also.
