Sharon Stoddard Nyhart Anast Katsavrias passed into the warmth of God’s arms on November 27, 2023 at the age of 77, from the terribly cruel disease of Alzheimer’s.
Sharon was born on July 21, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Keith and Bonnie Stoddard. As the oldest child, she helped her parents raise five children: Gayle, Kaye, Jackie, Brent and Jayne. Her sister Jackie married Randy Nyhart and Sharon married his brother, Gary Nyhart. Gary and Sharon had two children: Lance and Laurie. Gary passed away from a kidney disease at the age of 23 and left behind his wife and two young children. Sharon later married Jon Anast and together they had two children, Tony and Melissa. Jon and Sharon later divorced and Sharon married Gusty Katsavrias, many Greek Festivals later.
Sharon was a wonderful woman, wife, mother and YiaYia. She had a contagious giggle and a beautiful smile. She always worked hard and took on many jobs to support her family, but she never swayed from her duties to her church, home, and children. Sharon and her children were all baptized into the Greek Orthodox Church and fell in love with the Christian faith. She was an amazing cook, making all of her children’s’ birthday and wedding cakes. She also loved to decorate for every holiday and enjoyed attending car shows, especially her corvette trips, with Gusty. She did a beautiful job as a nurturing and kind mother and was a very devoted wife.
Sharon is preceded in death by her daughter, Melissa; her late husband, Gary Nyhart; late husband, Jon Anast; parents, Keith and Bonnie Stoddard; sister, Jackie Nyhart; in-laws; Delno and Bertha Nyhart, Chris and Betty Anast, Nick and Mary Katsavrias, and Bessie Grillos.
She leaves behind her husband, Gusty; three children: Lance (Kelly) Anast, their children, Nicholas (Desaree) Anast, and great-grandchildren, Brynnlee, Lyndon, Kamden, Kaysen and Tsaile; Krisalyn Anast, and her children, Ellie and Saige; Laurie Nyhart, and her children, Ashley Tryon and Alex (Nick) Zamantakis; Tony (Amy) Anast, and their children, Makenzie Neath and Ava; along with her very best friend, Georgene Porter; and her dogs, Mocha, Nutmeg, and Kahlua.
Momma will be deeply missed and forever treasured in all of our memories. Even when she forgot who all of us were, and our names disappeared into her heart, we knew momma was still there trying her best to do what she always did, which was taking care of others. We are all comforted in knowing she will be at peace and that she is dancing in heaven with Melissa, finally rid of the disease that took away her spirit, her memory, her love for life and the things she enjoyed. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Price, Utah where she found true happiness in her faith and her friends. The family would also like to express a special thanks to Parkdale Care Center, and the staff at CNS, especially Autumn.
