It broke our hearts to lose you; but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you the day God took you home. On November 30, 2023 Janice Gale Markey Spilman passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family in the comfort of her home after a long battle with Dementia.
Janice was born on April 20, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Edward and Vera Hall Markey. Janice met Raymond D. Spilman and on July 24, 1970 they were married in Elko, Nevada. They resided in Salt Lake City, Utah where they raised five children. Raymond preceded Janice in death on December 8, 2016.
Janice was an amazing mom and she kept all of us busy by taking us fishing and playing horseshoes. She became a pro at fishing; catching the “big ones,” and out-fishing our dad. She did not believe in having her kids raised in front of a T.V. or gaming systems. She was strict in raising us and we are forever grateful to her for it.
She is going to be greatly missed by her family. Survived by her daughters, Linda Jeffs and Christine (Gerry) Manley; sons, Del (Lynda) Jeffs, Brian Jeffs, and Mike Spilman (Denice Wroe); grandchildren, James Veale, Todd Veale, Delacy Nelson, Jesse Jeffs, Cody Jeffs, Cheryl (Kendrick) Minor, Crystal Christensen, Megan (Lance) Segmiller, Devin Spilman, and Sammy McCullough; many great-grandchildren; and brothers, Larry Anderson, Bob Orr, Gary and Donny Thatcher.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Spilman; mother, Vera Thatcher; step-father, Bill Thatcher; brother, Richard Thatcher; and in-laws, Ray and Mary Spilman and Randy Spilman.
The family would also like to extend a huge thank-you to the hospice team. She dearly loved her nurses: Autumn, Abbey, Justice, Barbara, Willow, Brooke, and Sherald from CNS in Price. Thank you all so much for being there for her and providing excellent care for her. You guys were family to her and to us. Your special care and excellent acts of kindness and amazing professional care will never be forgotten. We could not have done it without you.
Goodbyes are not forever, goodbyes are not the end, they simply mean we’ll miss you; until we meet again.
