Emery boy’s basketball has gotten off to a pretty good start to the season, with their only loss coming at the hands of South Summit, that by all accounts are pretty stout this season. On Tuesday night, the Spartans traveled to Roosevelt to take on the Union Cougars, and no matter what the sport this is always a fun match-up when these two team lock up. Emery took control early and never looked back in this one taking the 54-30 win.

The Spartans jumped out early in the first quarter putting up 15 points, while on the defensive side they held the Cougars to just five. Moving into the second quarter it was more of the same as the Spartans would double up Union 12-6 taking a 27-11 lead into the locker room at the half.

In the third quarter, the Spartans put on a defensive clinic allow Union just two points, but the Cougars would not go away coming back and putting up 17 in the fourth however, the contest was already well in hand for the Spartans who would go on to take the 54-30 win.

Champ Justice put up 15 for the Spartans, Jace Frandsen added 11, and Zack Tuttle put up 9 in the win.

The Morgan Trojans come to town on Friday, as the Spartans will welcome them to Castle Dale. Game time is set for 7 p.m.. The contest will be available on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM. You can also stream the game at castlecountryradio.com and on the Castle Country Radio app.
