The Carbon swim team was on the road Wednesday to face Union at their home pool in Roosevelt. The Lady Dinos were coming off a first place finish at the Canyon View Invitational in Cedar City last weekend earning the top spot over 12 other schools. Unfortunately, Union proved difficult to beat at home as both the girl’s and the boy’s teams came out on top at the two team meet.

The Union boys scored 204 points to Carbon’s 77 in their division.

Cole Arthur and Ky Earl, along with Spencer Hepworth and Logan Kranendonk earned a third place finish in the 200 free relay. Mason Engar, Cameron Jones, Leland Kepsel and Jackson Thayn earned a third place finish in the 200 medley relay as well. Kepsel, Jones, Thayn, and Engar swam to a second place finish in the 400 medley relay.

Engar also earned top individual finishes with a third place in the 100 fly, and another third place in the 100 back.  Hepworth swam to a second place finish in the 50 free, and Jones claimed a second place finish in the 100 free. Kranendonk finish the 200 free in third place, and Thayn swam to a third place finish in the 100-yard breast stroke.

For the girls, Union scored 149 points and the Lady Dinos earned 134.

Rachel Blackburn, Ellie Hanson, Jennacie Jeffrey, and Lily Thayn captured first place in the 200 free relay with their time of 2:03.29. Ada Bradford, Mia Crompton, Lily Flores, and Thayn earned a second place finish in the 200 medley relay and Bradford, Crompton, Alyssa Chamberlain and Kanyon Christensen took the top spot in the 400 medley relay with their time of 4:14.34.

Individually, Bradford claimed first place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:12.12, she also finished third in the 100-yard fly. Flores earned a top finish in the 100-yard breast stroke with her time of 1:23.75. Evie Halk finished first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:46. 30. Hadley Bower earned a third place finish in the 50 free, Chamberlain earned a pair of second place finishes in both the 200 free and the 500 free. Jeffrey would swim to a third place finish in the 200 free, and Ember Lyman finished second in the 50 free and third in the 100 free.

The Dinos will now get a well deserved break and wont get back into the water until December 15 & 16 when they will travel to the Tooele Invitational.
